Ottumwa, IA – For the second time this season, and third time in his Indian Hills career, sophomore Diego Lazaro (Laval, Canada/__) of the No. 5 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Soccer squad has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Lazaro helped guide the Warriors to a solid victory in its lone matchup last week, a 4-1 defeat of Lincoln Trail College (IL) in Ottumwa. Lazaro dished out a pair of assists as the Warriors improved to 5-1-1 overall on the year.
Lazaro's two helpers pushed the sophomore into a tie for fifth-place overall in school history with 15 career assists. Lazaro's 35 career points sit just outside the top-10 all-time for the Warriors. On the year, Lazaro ranks second overall in assists in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) while his 11 points are good enough for fifth overall in league play.
Indian Hills returns to action Thursday, September 25 with a trip to Norfolk, NE to take on No. 16 nationally ranked Casper College (WY) in a neutral-site matchup at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
