Indian Hills used a pair of goals in each half to upend the Thunderbirds in a nonconference clash. Sophomore Diego Lazaro (Laval, Canada/Horizon-Jeunesse) tallied a pair of goals while freshman Enzo de Almeida (Foz do Iguacu, Brazil/Colegio Silva Batista) found the back of the net for the seventh time this season.
The Warriors collected their third win over a nationally ranked foe this year in its first all-time meeting with the Thunderbirds. Indian Hills held a 19-7 shots advantage over Casper, including a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
Freshman Santo Aguek (Melbourne, Australia/Thomas Carr) secured the win in net, his second of the season, after stopping six shots vs. the Thunderbids.
Casper opened up the scoring in the seventh minute with an early strike in the opening half. The Warriors responded in the 24th minute as freshman Adem Arous (Lyon, France/Moulin de Preuilly) delivered a strike from the top of the box to beat the outstretched arms of the Casper keeper. The Warriors took their first lead of the day in the 36th minute as Lazaro chipped a shot over the head of the Thunderbirds' goalkeeper on assists from de Almeida and Rafael Posada (Chicago, IL/West Chicago Community).
Indian Hills pushed its lead to 3-1 in the 61st minute as Lazaro headed home a free kick from Fabian Arroyo (Ciudad Quesada, Costa Rica/Liceo San Carlos) from 40 yards out. Casper cut into the deficit in the 65th minute, but the Warriors held off a late push to prevail.
De Almeida tacked on an insurance goal in the closing seconds as Arous and Aguek provided the assists to cap the scoring.
With four points on the afternoon, Lazaro moves into sole possession of ninth all-time in Indian Hills program history with 39 career points.
The Warriors return to action Sunday afternoon with a home date vs. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 3:00 PM in Ottumwa.
