WARRIORS COMPETE AT CYCLONE OPEN, WIECZOREK INVITE

Ottumwa, IA – The defending national champion Indian Hills Men's Indoor Track & Field squad competed in a pair of meets over the weekend, starring in multiple events at both the Cyclone Open in Ames, IA and the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, IA.

One of the top middle-distance programs in the country over the last several years, the Warriors continued to flex in the event with a series of top performances. The Warriors posted three of the top four marks in the nation this year in the 800-meter run. At the Cyclone Open, sophomore Nichalas Power (Riverton City, Jamaica) posted the second-fastest all-conditions mark of the year with a time of 1:49.78 while freshman Jaquan Coke (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) followed closely behind for the third-fastest all-conditions mark of the year with a time of 1:51.40. Sophomore Cayde de Waal (Brakpan, South Africa/Hoërskool Oosterlig) followed suit on Saturday with the top championship qualifying mark in the nation this year with a time of 1:52.12 at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.

As a team, the Warriors now claim the top-four fastest 800m times among all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competitors this year. Power's time currently ranks fourth-fastest in school history.

Freshman Supreme Muhammad (Rockford, IL/Winnebago) posted two first-place finishes at the Cyclone Open on Friday. Muhammad captured the 200m dash title with a time of 21.40 and also took top honors in the 400m dash with a time of 47.85

The Warriors went 1-2 in both the 200m and 400m at the Cyclone Open as sophomore Michael Blank (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Washington) finished behind Muhammad in the 200m with a time of 21.76 while freshman Justin Gray (Memphis, TN/Southwind) added a runner-up finish in the 400m with a time of 47.98.

Freshman Joseph Cannon (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) added a runner-up finish in the men's 60m dash at the Cyclone Open with a season-best time of 6.89.

Competing at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, sophomore All-American Triston Miller (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus Junction) tied his own school record in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 7.86, good enough for a third-place finish. Miller, who ranks third in the nation in the event this year, has posted six of the top 12 marks in the NJCAA through four meets this year.

Miller also added a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump event with a mark of 6.88m.

The men's 4x400m relay squad posted the third-fastest mark in the NJCAA this year with a mark of 3:12.67. The quartet of Domictress Robinson (Jacksonville, FL/Jean Ribault), Gray, Power, and Muhammad crossed the finish line in third place for the Warriors.

Freshman Tatum Westercamp (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) posted a fifth-place finish in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.59, a new personal best.

Sophomore All-American Tate Joens (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) added a sixth-place finish in the men's weight throw with a mark of 18.38m. Joens, who owns the top mark in the nation this year, has posted three of the top eight marks in the NJCAA this season.
