FERGUSON LANDS SECOND WEEKLY HONOR

FERGUSON LANDS SECOND WEEKLY HONOR

Ottumwa, IA – Freshman Devonni Ferguson (Gouyave, Grenada/Grenada Boys' Secondary) of the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad has earned his second weekly accolade after a dominant showing over the weekend. Ferguson has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week after earning United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.

Ferguson set the track ablaze at the Iowa State Holiday Invitational, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.97. Ferguson's mark now ranks No. 2 all-time in school history behind former national champion Kenny Bednarek's time of 45.93, set in 2018. Ferguson and Bednarek are the lone individuals in program history to break the 47.00 barrier.

Ferguson's mark currently leads all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competitors in the event and serves as the lone individual to break 47.00 this season.

Ferguson becomes the second consecutive Warrior to earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week honors, joining fellow freshman Joseph McDonald Jr.

Indian Hills will now head into the holiday break before returning to action January 16-17 at the Nebraska Graduate Classic in Lincoln, NE.
