WARRIORS EARN THREE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES AT INDOOR MEET

Storm Lake, IA – The No. 5 nationally ranked Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad brought home three first-place finishes at the 2026 Nationally Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region11 Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Lambert Recreation Center. As a team, the Warriors placed fourth overall.

Indian Hills saw top finishes from sophomore Joseph Cannon (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) in the 60-meter dash, freshman Femi Nilson (Liberty, MO/Liberty) in the 60-meter hurdles, and freshman Kohlby Newsom (Winfield, IA/Winfield Mt. Union) in the 1,000-meter run. In total, the Warriors produced seven NJCAA All-Region 11 performances.

Cannon took home top honors in the 60m dash with a time of 6.81 while fellow sophomore Damor Miller (Kingston, Jamaica/Excelsior) placed second overall with a time or 6.81. On the year, Cannon has now captured three first-place finishes in the 60m dash event.

Nilson produced a personal-best mark of 8.15 in the 60mH to take the title for the Warriors. Nilson becomes just the second 60mH NJCAA Region 11 Champion in program history, joining former Warrior Triston Miller (2024). Nilson's mark currently ranks 16th in the NJCAA this season.

Newsom ran away with the title in the 1000m dash with at time of 2:27.67. The freshman was followed closely by fellow rookie Brian Kiprop (Eldoret, Kenya/Kingston College) who placed second overall with a time of 2:27.86 to earn All-Region honors.

Freshman Ryan Giberson (Fairfield, IA/Fairfield) earned All-Region honors with a runner-up finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.96 meters. Fellow freshman Dayton LaMar (Denmark, IA/Fort Madison) earned All-Region honors with a third-place showing in the long jump with a mark of 7.08 meters.

Indian Hills will now head to the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Topeka, KS March 6-7.
