Fayetteville, AR – Two former Indian Hills Men's Track & Field standouts have continued to make history, this time in dramatic fashion. Jamaican natives and former national champions at Indian Hills, Tyrice Taylor and Rivaldo Marshall were a part of a record-breaking and historic week on the track.
In a remarkable turn of events, both Taylor and Marshall, now members of the University of Arkansas Track & Field squad, broke the Jamaican 800-meter Indoor national record in a span of just one week. On February 14, Taylor set a new national record for his native country with a time of 1:46.11 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR while Marshall followed closely in the event with a time of 1:46.30 to place second overall.
Taylor's national record didn't last long, as the mark was broken on February 19 by fellow Jamaican standout Navasky Anderson who set the new record with a time of 1:46.10 at the Meeting Lievin Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais in Lievin, France.
The national record was quickly reclaimed by a former Indian Hills star as Marshall took the title of Jamaica's top middle distance runner from Anderson just one day later on February 20. Competing at the Randal Tyson Track on the Arkansas campus during the Arkansas Qualifier, Marshall shattered a number of records, including the top Jamaican national mark in the 800m with a time of 1:45.95, the first individual in Jamaican history to run sub-1:46.00.
Marshall's time, which sits atop the all-time list in Jamaican history, also set the new school record at Arkansas, breaking a 25-year old mark, as well as the Arkansas Qualifier meet record.
While Marshall's record was eventually broken once again by Anderson who set a new record with a time of 1:44.75 just two days later on February 22, both Marshall and Taylor have their sights set on reclaiming the top mark in Jamaican history. The duo will head to the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, TX February 26-28.

Two of the most decorated individuals in Indian Hills Athletics history, Marshall and Taylor combined for individual National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships and 14 NJCAA All-American honors. The two standouts currently own a combined four school records, including two relay events that each helped set in 2023.
