RELAY SQUAD EARNS NATIONAL HONORS

Ottumwa, IA – Coming off a record-breaking performance at the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, TX, the Indian Hills Men's Track & Field squad garnered national accolades for its 4x800-meter relay squad. The Warrior quartet has been named this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athletes of the Week.

The four-man relay squad comprised of Jaquan Coke (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College), Kemarrio Bygrave (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College), Evan Beeler (Farragut, TN/Farragut), and Raynier Galvez (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County) took home a first-place finish at the prestigious event with a school record time of 7:20.35 to take the top spot on the podium.

Coke, Bygrave, and Galvez captured their second career Texas Relays 4x800m title after winning the event as freshmen in 2025. The Warriors become just the second junior college team in the 98 year history of the event to win back-to-back titles, and are just the second program in the last 13 years to produce consecutive years with a time below 7:23.00.

The Warriors' time of 7:20.35 ranks first among all collegiate teams across all levels (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA) this year and is the 58th fastest time in the history of collegiate track & field. The time also ranks third all-time in the history of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

As a program, the Warriors have now earned five USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors, all since 2019. Galvez has now been a part of three USTCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors, including twice as an individual during the 2024-25 indoor campaign.

The Warriors will now head to the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, AR April 11.
