Paducah, KY – The Indian Hills Women's Golf squad wrapped up play at The Velvet Classic with a 13th place team finish at the Country Club of Paducah. Five different individuals competed for the Warriors.
Sophomore Joska Nelis (Haarlem, Netherlands/Lyceum Sancta Maria) led the charge for the Warriors with a 46th place finish in the primarily NCAA DI event. Nelis finished the two-day, three-round event with a 23-over, 239, including back-to-back rounds of 79 to close out the tournament. Nelis collected four birdies throughout the week.
Fellow sophomore Taylor Pacheco (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian) finished close behind with a 54th place finish, posting a 26-over, 242. Pacheco put together bookend rounds of 78 and 79, tied for her lowest rounds of the season. Pacheco led the Warriors with five birdies at the event.
Veronica Rodriguez (Santiago, Chile/Liceo A-1310 Buin) fired a 29-over, 245 to finish in a tie for 60th place for the Warriors while sophomores Poppy Norcott (Wiltshire, United Kingdom/Hartpury College) and Sofia Saavedra (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Dawere International) rounded out the team scoring for Indian Hills.
2025 marked the second consecutive year Indian Hills competed at The Velvet Classic with the Warriors posted a 19-stroke improvement from last year's effort.
Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Omaha, NE for the Big O Classic, hosted by the University of Omaha and Creighton University. Action from Oak Hills Country Club gets underway October 13.
