Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Golf squad earned a sixth-place finish at the Big O Classic on Tuesday. The Warriors posted a 120-over, 984 during the two-day, three-round event at Oak Hills Country Club.
Indian Hills finished ahead of conference foe Iowa Western Community College, along with NCAA Division I programs Stephen F. Austin University and Western Illinois University. The Warriors outlasted Iowa Western by 24 strokes after firing round scores of 325-326-333-984.
Sophomore Poppy Norcott (Wiltshire, United Kingdom/Hartpury College) led the way for the Warriors with a 23rd place finish after posting a 25-over, 241. Fellow sophomore Mackenzie Reeves (Rogers, AR/Heritage Rogers) followed in 33rd place while freshman Julia Petrilli tied for 38th place overall. Veronica Rodriguez (Santiago, Chile/Liceo A-1310 Buin) placed 41st overall while Sofia Saavedra (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Dawere International) rounded out the team scoring with a 44th place finish for the Warriors.
Norcott and Petrilli both tallied four birdies throughout the event while sophomore Taylor Pacheco (Chula Vista, CA/Olympian) tallied a team-high five birdies.
Next up for the Warriors is the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate October 20-21 at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville, IN.
