Maryville, MO – The Indian Hills Women's Golf team is set to open up postseason action as the Warriors head to Mozingo Golf Course for the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Midwest District Championship.

TEEING OFF

Indian Hills heads into postseason action after a strong showing throughout the duration of the regular season.

  • The Warriors enter the District tournament as the top-ranked team in the field, checking in at No. 11 in the most recent ratings.
  • Indian Hills has captured three team titles during the 2024-25 campaign, including two titles in the team's last three outings.
  • Five different individuals have led the Warriors atop the team leaderboard over the course of the squad's nine events this year.
  • Head coach Michael Shedd will lead the team into the District tournament for the second consecutive year.

WARRIORS AT DISTRICTS

Indian Hills is set to make its second straight trip to the NJCAA District Tournament after a runner-up finish in 2025.

  • The Warriors finished behind eventual champion Iowa Western Community College last season as both squads earned an automatic bid to the 2025 NJCAA DI Women's Golf National Championship.
  • Sophomore Sofia Saavedra tied for sixth overall at last year's tournament while Poppy Norcott, Veronica Rodriguez, and Taylor Pacheco placed 9th, 10th, and 11th, respectively. 

SHEDD'S NOTES

"We have had another awesome year with regular season events," stated Shedd, "and I feel good with how we have been preparing for the District championship this last week. Now, it's time to put all that preparation to good use and go perform. Regardless of how things end up, I'm very grateful to have gotten to coach these young ladies. Watching them grow over the last two years has been amazing."

SCOUTING THE COURSE

Nestled among the rolling hills adjacent to Mozingo Lake, the Sechrest 18 is a championship calibur golf course known for its exceptional quality and affordability. Once named the "Best New Public Golf Course in America" by Golf Digest and noted as a "Top Public Course Under $50" by the USA Today, the Sechrest 18 continues to improve its position as the premier golf course in Northwest Missouri.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Indian Hills and Iowa Western will serve as the two lone squads from NJCAA Region 11 and will be joined by NJCAA Region 16's Crowder College (MO).

  • Along with the Warriors' No. 11 ranking, Iowa Western will enter the tournament ranked No. 18.
  • A total of 20 individuals, including three from North Central Missouri College will compete for the individual title.
  • Iowa Western's Olivia Holyoak-Church enters the tournament as the top-ranked individual at No. 24 in the latest ratings.

WHAT'S NEXT

With a top-two finish at the District Championship, the Warriors will earn an automatic bid to the upcoming NJCAA DI Women's Golf National Championship in Coal Valley, IL. The National Championship will be held May 11-14 at Oakwood Country Club. The Warriors would await a potential at-large bid to the national tournament with a third-place finish in this week's event.
