EAST NAMED FIRST-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN®

2025 COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN TEAM®

Centerville, IA – Sophomore Jaquan East (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) of the Indian Hills Men's Wrestling team has been named a 2025 First-Team Academic All-American®, announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Wednesday.

East is one of just 20 individuals, including one of just 16 first-team selections across the country to be named to the Academic All-American® Men's At-Large College Division which recognizes student-athletes from two-year and colleges and universities as well as Canadian institutions. Just 0.2% of all NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA at-large men's student-athletes earned the the title of of Academic All-American® in 2024-25.

"Amazing honor," stated Indian Hills Men's Wrestling Head Coach Cole Spree, "and I believe it speaks testament to the outstanding young man Jaquan has become. Over his two years here, he put a major emphasis on becoming a well-rounded individual and that's why he has accomplished so much this year."

East capped an unprecedented career at Indian Hills as the standout secured National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Wrestling All-American honors for the second consecutive season after finishing as the national runner-up in the 184lb bracket. East became the all-time winningest individual in program history with 52 victories after posting a 26-3 record during his sophomore campaign while setting the school record for career tech falls (16).

East ranks in the top-10 in school history in career wins, single season wins (twice), single season winning percentage (6th), single season tech falls (1st), career wins (1st), career tech falls (1st), and career falls (T-5).

The sophomore was crowned the NJCAA North Central District Champion while taking home first-place finishes at both the Luther Hill Invitational and the Viking Men's Open this past season. East finished his final season as a Warrior with a 9-0 dual record, including three wins over ranked opponents to go along with a 6-0 mark in ICCAC action.

East will continue his academic and athletic career at Minnesota State University next season.

In addition to East's honor, Indian Hills Track & Field sophomore Kaden Banks (Onalaska, WI/Holmer) was named the CSC College Division Academic All-American® Male Team Member of the Year while Indian Hills Baseball sophomore Cole Huebner (Edmonton, Alberta/Strathcona) joined East on the CSC Academic All-American® First-Team. Indian Hills Men's Basketball sophomore Abdoulaye Fall (Dakar, Senegal/Cloud County) was named to the CSC Academic All-American® Second-Team.
