Ottumwa, IA – Five members of the Indian Hills Women's Cross Country squad have earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 postseason honors, announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) on Thursday.
Freshman Cindy Rose (Brown's Town, Jamaica/Holmwood Technical) and sophomore Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) were named to the ICCAC All-Conference First-Team while freshmen Rebecca Duran (El Paso, IA/Chapin) and Serene Thompson (Albia, IA / Albia) were named to the ICCAC All-Conference Second-Team for their efforts at the NJCAA Region 11 Championships in Fort Dodge, IA over the weekend.
Rose and Koonce were honored on the first-team for placing sixth and seventh overall, respectively, in the region championship meet while Duran placed eighth overall and Thompson placed 12th overall to earn a spot on the second-team
The all-conference team is comprised of all Division I and Division II programs that competed in the NJCAA Region 11 Championships.
Rose, Koonce, and Duran were also awarded a spot on the second-team NJCAA All-Region 11 squad while Thompson and fellow freshman Abby George (Albia, IA/Albia) were named to the NJCAA All-Region Honorable Mention squad. George earned a top-15 individual finish at the championship meet to earn the postseason accolade.
Indian Hills, ranked No. 10 in the nation in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll, will now turn its attention to the upcoming NJCAA DI Women's Cross Country Championship November 8 at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
