Fort Dodge, IA – The Indian Hills Women's Cross Country squad wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a strong showing at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday. The Warriors placed 17th overall as a team.
Competing in unfavorable conditions as snow fell throughout the day on the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course, the Warriors placed two individuals in the top-50 finishers. Sophomore Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) placed 36th overall with a time of 19:54.0 to lead Indian Hills while freshman Rebecca Duran (El Paso, TX/Chapin) placed 50th overall with a time of 20:14.5.
Freshman Serene Thompson (Albia, IA/Albia) crossed the finish line with a time of 21:55.7 to place 107th overall while fellow freshman Abby George (Albia, IA/Albia) placed 115th overall with a time of 22:02.5. Sophomore Shmyhia Morris (Memphis, TN/Whitehaven) checked in with a time of 22:23.6 while freshman Claire Hayward (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont) rounded out the team scoring with a time of 25:25.7.
In a field of 177 athletes, the Warriors tallied 415 team points to collect its second-best team finish in school history. The 2021 squad placed 15 overall.
