Ottumwa, IA – A number of former Indian Hills Athletics alumni have continued to star at the next level following their careers with the Warriors, both at the four-year and professional ranks. Catch up with former standouts and their current success.
Justin King – Baseball (2016-18)
A former two-year standout for the Indian Hills Baseball squad, Justin King was assigned to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on April 29, the AAA affiliate of the Miami Marlins. King received a non-roster invitation to the Marlins' Spring Training camp back in January before climbing the ranks in the organization through the early portion of the season.
2026 marks King's fifth season of professional baseball, having pitched in more than 100 career ballgames across multiple levels. Through seven games this season with the Marlins' AA affiliate, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, King is 1-0 with a 2.70 earned run average and 18 strikeouts.
King starred for the Warriors during the 2017 and 2018 campaign, earning NJCAA All-Region 11 First-Team honors as a sophomore, hitting a team-high 13 home runs while batting .316 on the year. King went on to compete for the University of Alabama before transitioning to the mound where his professional career has skyrocketed.
Destiny Lewis – Softball (2021-23)
One of the most decorated individuals in program history, Destiny Lewis has continued to leave her mark on the softball world. Now a member of the Nova Southeastern University Softball program, Lewis recently tied the single season school record for home runs in a year with 13 after a pair of home runs in the Sharks' most recent outing.
Lewis has made an immediate impact for the Sharks in 2026, leading the program in nearly every major statistical category, including average (.324), home runs (13), RBI (43), and total bases (102).
Lewis starred for Indian Hills during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, earning NJCAA National Player of the Year honors as a sophomore to go along with numerous ICCAC, NFCA, and NJCAA honors. To this day, Lewis holds eight school records, including single season and career home runs.
Jose Miguel Ramirez – Men's Golf (2022-24)
The most recent national champion for the historic Indian Hills Men's Golf program, Jose Miguel Ramirez has continued to elevate his game at the next level. Now a member of Wichita State University, Ramirez recently broke the program record for career stroke average for the Shockers.
Ramirez's career average of 71.24 now sits atop the all-time leaderboard at Wichita State while his 71.03 stroke average during the 2025-26 campaign is the second-lowest single season mark in program history. Ramirez led the Shockers in their final event of the year, the American Championship.
Ramirez captured a bevy of accolades throughout his storied career at Indian Hills, capturing the 2023 NJCAA National Championship while guiding the team to its seventh national team title. For his efforts, Ramirez was named the 2023 GCAA Arnold Palmer Award winner.
Kalen Walker – Track & Field (2020-21)
Dubbed the 'Fastest Man in Iowa' former Indian Hills Men's Track & Field standout has cemented himself as one of the all-time greats in collegiate track history. A four-time All-American at the University of Iowa, Walker recently captured the 2026 Drake Relays 100-meter championship.
Walker currently boasts the 13-th fastest 100m time in the nation this year as the Hawkeyes head towards postseason competition with the B1G Ten Outdoor Championships May 15-16.
Walker has continued to make a name for himself after his tenure at Indian Hills. The Eddyville, IA native has captured three B1G Ten Championships throughout his career, including a pair of individual titles (2025 – 100m, 2026 – 60m). Walker currently holds three school records for the Hawkeyes.
Terrick Johnson – Track & Field (2023-24)
Terrick Johnson has made the most of his time at the University of Iowa, recently capturing the 4x400m Drake Relays Championship with a time of 3:05.25. Johnson earned NCAA All-American honors during the 4x400m relay outdoor event in 2025.
During his tenure with the Warriors, Johnson captured two NJCAA All-American honors and was the 2024 national runner-up in the 600m while winning three NJCAA Region 11 Championships.
Jahzara Hart – Women's Track & Field (2022-23)
Former Indian Hills All-American Jahzara Hart, now a member of the Tusculum University Track & Field squad, captured three championships at the 2026 South Atlantic Outdoor Conference Championship for the Pioneers, winning the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay.
Hart has produced a breakout year for the Pioneers, winning a grand total of 17 events between the indoor and outdoor season, including 12 individual titles.
During her tenure with the Warriors, Hart was a six-time national qualifier and three-time NJCAA All-American.
Shanice Cox – Women's Track & Field (2022-24)
Shanice Cox, also a member of the Tusculum track program, teamed up with Hart to help the Pioneers captured the 4x100m relay title at the South Atlantic Outdoor Conference Championship.
Cox has produced a stellar year on the track for the Pioneers, helping the program capture six relay titles throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
At Indian Hills, Cox was an 11-time national qualifier and four-time NJCAA All-American.
Isaac Gibbs – Men's Wrestling
Former NJCAA All-American with the Warriors, Isaac Gibbs has made a name for himself on the international stage. Gibbs recently captured a sixth-place finish in the 2026 USA Wrestling Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Las Vegas. Gibbs placed sixth overall in the Senior 55kg bracket.
Gibbs starred for the Warriors from 2023-25, earning NJCAA and NWCA Scholar All-American honors as a freshman. Gibbs currently ranks in the top-10 in school history in career and single season wins.
Gibbs now competes for Doane University where he earned a runner-up finish at the 2026 NAIA Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship in the 125lb bracket.
Alijah Jeffery – Wrestling
Former Indian Hills Wrestling Assistant Coach Alijah Jeffery took to the mat with Gibbs in Las Vegas. The current head coach for the Fort Hays State University Women's Wrestling squad, Jeffery placed third overall in the USA Wrestling Masters A Division Freestyle National Championship in the 62kg bracket.
Jeffery helped guide the Indian Hills Women's Wrestling program to its first-ever national championship in 2021 before taking the reigns at Chadron State College. Jeffery has now served as the head coach of Fort Hays State for each of the past three seasons.
