WESTERICH NAMED FIRST-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN®

2025 COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN TEAM®

Ottumwa, IA – Sophomore Ana Carolina Westerich (Blumenau, Brazil/Colégio Energia) of the Indian Hills Volleyball team has been named a 2025 First-Team Academic All-American®, announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Tuesday.

Westerich is one of just 20 individuals, including one of just 13 first-team selections across the country to be named to the Academic All-American® Women's At-Large College Division which recognizes student-athletes from two-year and colleges and universities as well as Canadian institutions.

"Ana, from the first day on campus her freshman year, had goals," stated Indian Hills Volleyball Head Coach Lyndsey Michel. "Big goals on the court and especially in the classroom. All business, all the time; and it paid off in big ways. Becoming an Academic All-American and transferring to continue to play at a school of her dreams - I couldn't be more proud of her and her accomplishments. She will continue to shine at Adelphi."

Westerich led the Warriors to back-to-back top-10 finishes at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball National Championship after garnering All-American honors on the court. Westerich was named to the NJCAA DI Volleyball All-American Second-Team and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Third-Team while earning NJCAA All-Region 11 First-Team honors.

Westerich ranked second in the nation this past season with 1,401 assists and finished her two-year career with the Warriors ranked fifth all-time with 2,733 assists. The primary setter recorded at least 30 assists in a match 30 times on the year.

Academically, Westerich has twice been named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second-Team (3.8-3.99 GPA) and is a four-time member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Academic All-Region First-Team (3.5-4.0).

Westerich will continue her academic and athletic career at Adelphi University (NY) next season.

Along with Westerich, Indian Hills Softball sophomore Ava Smith (Waukee, IA/Waukee Northwest) and Indian Hills Women's Wrestling sophomore Angelica Vicente Gonzalez (Cidra, Puerto Rico/Eugenio Guerra Cruz) were named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-American® Second-Team. The trio become just one of five females in Indian Hills Athletics history to earn the prestigious CSC Academic All-American® distinction.
