WARRIORS FALL IN TOURNEY OPENER TO NO. 1 SHARKS

Clarksville, TN – 16th seeded Indian Hills Volleyball suffered an opening round defeat to top overall seed Miami Dade College (FL) on Wednesday afternoon at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Volleyball National Tournament. The Warriors fell in straight sets to fall to the consolation bracket.

Taking on No. 1 ranked and the No. 1 overall seed in the national tournament, the Warriors fell behind early as Miami Dade, six-time national champions, took the straight set victory 25-13, 25-14, 25-14.

Freshman Farah Sherif (Alexandria, Egypt/EGC) collected her sixth consecutive double-digit kill performance with a team-high 10 kills while leading the squad with six digs. Sophomore Ana Luiza Caminha Matos (Betim, Brazil/Augusto de Lima) tallied 18 assists on the day to reach 1,300 career assists during her two-year career at Indian Hills.

Making its fourth consecutive trip to the national tournament, the Warriors will now head to the consolation bracket to take on No. 9 seeded Blinn College (TX). The Buccaneers fell on the opening day to No. 8 Odessa College (TX) 3-1. Indian Hills and Blinn will square off at 1:00 PM CT Thursday afternoon in Clarksville, TN.
